skawillow Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Hi I've recently purchased some Stageline PARL36 LED lamps which are 5 channel.I've been looking at purchasing an ELATION LED OPERATOR controller but this seems to support 4 channel LED fixtures. Will this work or have I missed something fundamental? Thanks
musht Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Slightly more recent, Showtec LED Commander, control 8 groups of up to 8 channel fixtures, just over £100 at Thomann http://www.highlite.nl/index.php/highlite/...s/led_commander Differs from ADJ product by addition of 61 more DMX channels fro same money.
skawillow Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 I presume you don't need to buy a specific 4 channel or 5 channel controller as all you do is programme the value for the channel's you're controlling - Upto the maximum number of channels available on the controller - correct? Some interesting points about running parallel units (with same start channel) does this cause any problems that anyone knows of? Are there actually no standards for channel sequencing for LED fixtures. Seems very random..These Stagline units are PARL36DMX http://www.monacor.de/de/FLE/PARL36DMX.pdf summarised below. From the controllers I looked at I was expecting faders Operating ModeRedGreenBlue SpeedMASTER does it really matter? musht Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Yup, DMX 512 is a generic control standard, can configure most DMX controllers to control most DMX devices. Running things at same address very common, ADJ is limited in that it only has the 3 channels, Showtec has 64, 8 channels in 8 groups. There are no standards with LED channel layout, even from same maker a few months later..
Chris Beesley Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 The Elation LED operator only works with 3CH (RGB) fixtures.
