RoyJ Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 :) Hi all, this is probably a shot in the dark.We have obtained a pair of Major pageant lanterns as part of our historically interesting collection. One has a top access door and I have details in a part catalogue. The other has a rear access door to which I can find no reference to.The lantern was used at one time at the Royal opera house, covent garden, I have contacted them, but the collections are closed due to a new exhibit.Has anyone any information about the rear access model?I was promised a copy of two major catalogues by a member of the forum, but nothing arrived leaving me to believe this was a wind up.A shame considering that they may have the information I require. I would be vary greatful if anyone can help.I feel a piece of friendly advice to new members of the forum is necessary, there are a vast amount of members will go the extra mile in order to help you, but there are some that obviously find it amusing to wind people up, promising help and then not delivering.Be careful who you give your personnel details to.Hopefully someone out there can help.Keep it illuminated Roy

I expect to find the original elsewhere in a few weeks time as I'm helping someone do house clearance.
RoyJ Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 :P If you do get the missing pages/catalogue, is there any chance of a copy? Thanks Roy :( I have a 30's Major photocopy, I'll have a look. delicolor Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 ;) If you do get the missing pages/catalogue, is there any chance of a copy? Thanks Roy I'd forgotten about this post, sorry. I have the catalogue now, as well as a couple of more recent ones. There are a lot of pages to copy, but if you are likely to be at NorthNet 40 or the Belgrade ABTT events, I can bring along the originals for you to have a look at and we can agree a number of pages to scan and email.

Hi, sorry wont be at either,as I've had bilateral knee surgery, and recovery is both slow and painful.I have had donated today a copy of what I suspect is a 1930 complete catalogue complete with art deco cover. The more modern ones may still be interesting,as I only have a part catalogue.Regards Roy
delicolor Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 No Pageants in the post 1937 catalogue, undated but estimated to be then from Birmingham Paramount Neon installation photo. I think I've seen the one you mention, I think it may have been 1931/1932 as from memory it has Paramount Newcastle shots for the 10 preset switchboard and the circle front enclosures, still extant in the later copy I have. Something called "Vignette or Pageant lanterns" appears in the 1958 catalogue, only one lantern though, access door on top. It is listed as £16 in the June 1960 price list. (This is given Catalogue number V/10 by the 1961 edition, it appears to be the same lantern). The newest price list I have is 1965, it is £21 by then!
