New Zealand Theatre Connectors

Cables to lamps universally have the standard flat pin 10A connectors on them, we use these for dimmed loads and hard (or what the locals call 'Hot') power.

Rather conveniently, the 10A plugs stack, so no need for Grelcos either...

When I first got to the UK it took me about six months before I stopped automatically trying to pair by piggybacking plugs. Of course, when I got back here to NZ I remembered about bent pins which I'd had two years without! Here's a helpfully-labelled (not by me!) slightly more detailed picture of the standard 10a plug....

The current version of the PDL940 plug illustrated above is the best plug on the planet, in my opinion - easy to wire and great captive bits.

The earth pin in NZ is at the bottom, whereas in the UK its at the top, but if you turn the kliwi plug upside down so earth is at the top, then live is on the right, just like the UK...

The Aussies use the same plugs, but call the live 'active' so many of these plugs are labeeled A/N/E rather than L/N/E

Its once you get bigger than the 10A plug that it all turns to custard here in NZ - its not till you get to 63A is the ceeform connection "standard", and the 32A (and 40A) plugs we use here are truly horrible, and effing expensive...
