Pleb
Hi Peeps, theres some Auna speakers for sale with a 15" driver in for £150 on E-Bay. Has anyone heard these speakers? If so , what do you think about the sound? Regards, Pleb.
Brian
They'll sound like any other cheap speaker. They're listed at £65 each for a claimed 400W RMS. The top end will be harsh because they're using a single bog-standard piezo tweeter which is meant to used with just a 100W LF unit. The supposed mid unit will be similarly under-rated. The LF unit will not be matched to the box. It claims to go to 30Hz and yet it appears to be an un-ported box. So 30Hz it may be but not at any volume. You'll be getting speakers which are worth exactly what you pay for them.
Sound In Gloucestershire
hi pleb, welcome to the forumYou have to appreciate this is a Pro Audio forum, so whilst we appreciate there is a "Budget" end of the market, it has its place If you state what you intend to do with the speakers and to how many people, it may help us give you advice and perhaps suggest alternatives Auna as a company make VERY cheap car hifi gear, not very good stuff. The badge on the speakers you talk about says "Auna Multimedia".The quoted wattage is imaginary and the details are totally made up (30hz...yeah right)

Pleb
Hi there again Chris, I'm even more confused now about amps and speakers looking at the replies I've had. I don't think the ones you are selling will be powerfull enough for my amp, (unless my amp specifications are bogus as well ). The amp gives out 500wRMS into 4Ohms or 330w RMS into 8Ohms. It's a McGregor V8D mixer amp, an ex hire PA. Thanks for trying to assist, Pleb.
Chris Beesley
The Celestion Road R1220 are rated at 250W rms - you should normally use an amp of 1-2 times the RMS rating of the speakers. The McGregor will be well suited to these. Feel free to pop across with your McGregor and try them... use them for a gig if needed.
