HELP URGENT! Updating Strand Fixture Library

righttoe

Recommended Posts

Hi all, today I did the fit up for a big show coming in, only to find the fixture I needed wasn't in the fixture library on our Strand 520i, we normally use mac's and robe spots, which it has, but I've hired a few robe washes as well to try out and there not in the library!!!

Now I've updated the library before, and I know its a pain in the arse doing it through dos! but I've downloaded the latest library on strands website and its a ZIP file full of seperate txt files for each manufacturer, can I copy over more then one library file? As theres one for 'Martin Yokes' and one for 'Robe' and im using fixtures in both!

Please help ASAP as I need to sort this tomorrow!!

Thanks

Mike

On a PC, paste the bits you need from the Martin and Robe files which you downloaded into a new 'master' FIXTURE.LIB file, reassigning fixture numbers as required. Then stick that onto a floppy and copy it to the hard drive in the desk.

Right ok, panic over 'I think', thanks for advice guys, I've made my own custom one with a bit of martin/robe/varilight in which is what we use, now ive coppied in the robe and vari light files into a martin file, do I need to update the list at the top? as ive just got rid of that so it has the list of what each attribute does, then each fixture with its number and att details, for example the start looks like this -

# For 16bit atributes use the extended format xhAtt to denote

# the least significant 8 bits.

# Extended format is valid for attributes 2 though 99 only.

# e.g. For a 16bit Iris use 5 & x5

#

# For all Reset channels (20), Steps should be set to 0.

# Steps set to 0 = DMX values displayed in the Rotary window

# 0-FL in the Output window.

#

# To aid display keep the first 6 letters of fixture [names]

# unique.
