software "vtr" for shows.

ok I'm out of touch being stuck in stoneage valencia. its not uncommon to see beta sp still here...........

having spent all week doing valencia fashion week....

I'm wondering what other people are using to control and output videos etc to 2nd screens from pcs etc.

Not too "in love" with the true VJ type softwares.. they are more geared towards live effects etc..

I'm more talking about being able to call on and play at will videos for a show and play/pause etc on cue as the show requires.. have a basic timer..

In the end for me I resorted to using Sony Vegas, outputing the "preview" to the projector... Lining ALL videos from 0 secconds on the time line and muting all I didnt want... play from start.. stop.. return to start point.. and re-set mutes are required..

It was fiddely and lots of mouse clicks...

I preffer in gigs.. nice "preset" keyboard hotkeys..

The REAL niggle I had is that my copy of resolume 2.4 is "perfect" for all but one problem... no audio output..

Its a little too mouse-friendly for me but I can cue up 3 videos ready to go from "the off" .. set them to start points and have output control of each of the 3 and a basic time-slider.

Resolume 3 wont run on my laptop :)

Please bear(/bare?) in mind this will be a personal purchase of software so "proffesional £xxxxx prices" are not really what I'm looking for.. but I dont mind at all, paying for what I can really use.

comments?experiences?suggestions?

Sounds like a job for Screen Monkey... Link.

I've used it a fair few times and it hasn't let me down.

Does audio, allows start and stop cue points and can be controlled by MIDI and ArtNet.

Quite a nice bit of software if the budget doesn't allow for dedicated media servers and best of all its free.
