We are doing the play "I never Saw Another Butterfly" and it calls for a "full stage projection of butterflies".

We have an LCD projector, but I am at a loss on getting a video or like sort of monarch butterflies. I want

the Butterflies to be monarch (orange) and preferably life like. we will be prjecting on a 42ft wide 21ft high back wall

(small stage) and it has a ruffled black curtain.

OPEN TO ANY IDEAS THANKS!!

Ring round zoos, agricultural research centres, universities with biology/agriculture studies and see if anyone has a good butterfly collection.

Get hold of a camera and visit them.

Alternatively, pay someone a lot to computer generate it.

with it being such a large projection. a video clip of a butterfly (flies) will be enormous.

You could try finding an animated image of said butterfly and using PPT to add motion to these across the back wall ( assuming this wall is white or light in colour.) I take it the Ruffled Black is a border. Projecting on this could be difficult.

At the curve in leicester for there production of peter pan they projected 2d still images of fairies that moved in varying directions and speeds.

p.s for video clips take a look at wwwbbcmotiongallery.co.uk

Hi there.

I think this guy might have a DVD of butterflies that he made for a charity event last year - www.popcornmedia.co.uk - The guy you want is Alan.

If you have the budget, I'd recommend using QLab, as it gives you the control of images in a way that DVD players can only dream about - again, I think the guy hires the equipment for this - not sure about your black borders though - might need to put in a false prosc. or something flet.

Good luck.
