Hello,

I work for a amateur theatre production company and we are looking to purchase a new lighting desk. We currently have the Zero 88 Sirius 24 but its function buttons and cue sheets and effects, and anything fancy it does doesn't work!!!

So we are looking into getting a new one I have said I will investigate into it a little and would like some help on what lighting desks you think are good we have. 4x 6 paired channel dimmer racks (analogue). were old!!!

I have noticed you can get analogue to DMX racks would you suggest these???

please help me if you can. :D

Thanks

Lighting Man MB  ;)

The first thing you will need to do is to add a DMX to Analogue converter (a demux) to your system. Around £100 and a few bits of cable and connector plus someone who can solder.

After that - what's your budget?

Just a quick question.

I may have got the wrong end of the stick, but what do you mean by they don't work?

As in, did they used to work and have stopped working or is it a case of the desk has been locked in 'Present Only' mode whereby only the red and blue faders work?

If that's the case then it's not too hard to come across a replacement key.

Sorry if I have the wrong end of the stick!

I was up against the same situation, I ended up buying a Zero88 Fat Frog (a normal Frog will do if you don't have any intentions of using moving fixtures) and a Showtec Demux to convert the DMX signals back to analogue - you'll need to make up leads for this but if you're handy with a soldering iron it isn't difficult.

There is a frog for auction on ebay at the moment, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/zero-88-frog-lightin...=item3ca975a685

Also Showtec Demux http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Showtec-DINN-to-DMX-...=item20af1c824e

(I have no connection with the sellers, just linked to show the OP what I am talking about)
