Inka
Dear All, hey there, I have been thrown in the deep end with the SGM SCAN STudio 12 Scan Controller.I have no experience programming moving lights at all. After playing with it for a 4 hours or so I discovered the method to the madness...or so I thought. BEfore I go on, a programmer had assigned the unit channels. So I get that one must press the program button, keep it pressed, choose how many scenes that program will have, and how many units will be used on the entire program, and what effect I would use BEFORE playing around with the units. BUT it seems that I am not locking the scenes/programmes in effectively. The moving heads are 575s (oh gawd ... I cannot remember the brand). It seems there is no manual control of the scenes, unless I press pause. It seems that every unit that I program I have to 'store' into the one scene - each time. But then I play it, it plays correctly and then I may move to another program , go back to the initial program (button) and it does whatever the hell it chooses??? Its really weird. I have no idea why its loses all the work I do as soon as I press another program button?? Any ideas...please... the gig is at the Hilton, I am the programmer !!! in 2 days time. inka
johnnymurray
I had the pleasure of working with this desk for 6 months and never did work out it's weird ways fully, not sure if you have checked this already but here is a link to the console page with the manual and other bits and pieces: http://www.sgmtechnologyforlighting.com/pr...I.asp?co_id=156 I remember regularly programming, checking it was there then going back to find it had vanished! Inka
thank you Johnny for your reply. I must say its more than a little worrying. I have not been doing lighting for some years and I am back into it now. I remember that I always had a computer screen to see what was going on, on static rigs + scrollers. (you know per scene what lights were going to come up and at what intensity and how long their fade up and down would be) Moving lights a lot more complicated and yet nowhere in the manual does it suggest having a full computer screen and computer keyboard and mouse. I have looked at the back and there is a VGA connection but nothing else and I cannot remember how we use to connect the screens. I imagine seeing the programming may stop a few ugly surprises... Did you ever use a full computer screen with this desk? Thank youInka
