meyerm3d
Hi, I have been working for a major UK Cruise Company as Sound Engineer now for 2 years. Its defiantly worth doing if you want to see more of the world and save bit of extra cash. Shows aren't quite West End standard, but the equipment you work with is and in most cases fantastic Audio Rigs with top of the range Digital Consoles. The pay is reasonable especially if you don't pay UK income tax and don't have property mortgages or rentals. However your on a ship for approx 4 - 6 months, may have to share a small cabin without any window (Depending on cruise Line) and have to eat pretty rubbish food in the staff mess. But the positives out way the negatives..trust me.Do bear in mind that although you get nice toys to play with, theirs lots of maintenance to do on a regular basis, especially if the ship is more than 3 years old as there is no regular maintenance from shore side and you cant call a hire company to come and swap gear out in the middle of the High Seas. You will also have other Duty's like emergency muster duties where you will need to attend regular crew and passenger drills every turnover days. All in all its very rewarding. The company's that I know of are Carnival Corp which owns P&O, Princess, Cunard, Ocean Village, Holland & America, Yachts of Seabourne, carnival then you have Royal Caribbean cruises which has the huge Oasis of the seas which is like a floating country! all of these have websites and links to recruitment. Email your CV and covering letter to them so that you can get on there books if there not employing at the moment. Good luck
