i_broom_56
ive been looking in particular at the large scale acoustic shells designed for large performance venues. a couple of the products ive come across is the Diva shell by Wenger, the Dynamicflow by Jocavi and the Opus II by Stage craft. I would very much like to hear peoples opinions on buying a shell of this magnitude, what to look out for, if they have encountered one or if they know of any flaws or warning signs to look out for when purchasing such a product. Pete McCrea
I think you'll need to give more information. I think your talking about large sound absorption products designed for venues. Out of interest, unless your looking to put them into a venue why the hell do you want to buy them?! So if they're for a venue, then what are you looking to actually achieve? Pyramid
why the hell do you want to buy them?! I guess he doesn't Pete. Another student looking for someone to do their homework! (check out his profile) Andy
i_broom_56
why the hell do you want to buy them?! I guess he doesn't Pete. Another student looking for someone to do their homework! (check out his profile) Andy graduated last year from university of derby. im working for a company and need to purchse an on stage acoustic shell for the purpose of improving the acoustics for orchestral puposes. I figured that being people who have further acoustic knowledge than myself it would be beneficial to ask? Ian
Keyboardclass
I need a shell for my school stage. I've also checked out the companies above (though never heard of Opus II). Any feedback guys?
Keyboardclass
Can anyone recommend an Acoustic Shell for a UK school stage to diffuse sound into the auditorium?
paulears
Very odd - we've had two topics started very close together by different people on 'acoustic shells'. I'm going to merge the two together as they are asking the same question - reading the profiles - we have a teacher and ex-student possibly? How unusual, but sometimes rarely discussed topics come up at the same time. Let's hope both get the answers they want. I have to admit that 'acoustic shell' does seem to need context to make some sense.
Simon Lewis
Can anyone recommend an Acoustic Shell for a UK school stage to diffuse sound into the auditorium? Presumably, you've identified what acoustic shortcomings exist in the school hall, you've calculated RT60, C80, G and early lateral reflections, and that the seating layout doesn't adversely change the absorption presented to the performers? Shells are useful tools, but I'd be wary of sticking one in a standard school hall without considering the rest of the acoustics. Simon

We don't have any seats just chairs that are put out when there's a performance. Though I've not done any calculations as the Music Director I am well aware that the sound goes up from the stage instead of out.
Simon Lewis
You hear nothing about shells for years, then a load come along all at once...
Malcolm Gordon
a couple of the products ive come across is the Diva shell by Wenger....I would hope so, since your company markets them. You hear nothing about shells for years, then a load come along all at once...In September our organisation (amongst many others, I suspect) was contacted by IMG Artists, who are conducting market research on behalf of Sound Forms plc and also helping them to source investment for the concept. If anyone is particularly interested I can forward the details provided.

mervaka
Welcome to BR. As nice as that is, we don't do plugs here. Everyone here is in business. If we all did it, this forum would turn into an ad frenzy.
