Chrma Q Scroll woes

Six of mine are being used and for some reason two have stopped working and the red light is flashing. That suggests a sticking gel stream , but ther are not. Any ideas. I am loath to take more scrollers there as ther might be a problem in the operation and I end up with more damaged/not working

Could be the strings are wrongly tensioned, either too tight or too loose which has caused the scroller to seize. The tension is adjusted manually in the older chroma q models. Which ones are we talking about?

I doubt anything to do with the control side of things could cause the problems you've described, specially if the fixtures throwing up a warning light rather than just not behaving.

To me, it sounds like something internal with the scrollers, they're pretty simple, but I've known CQ1's to still act up when they think there's a problem. I take it they reset ok and scroll back to the beginning of the string when they've finished resetting and the DMX line into them's out? What happens when you tell them to be at 128/50% and leave the DMX plugged into the PSU? Do they goto that value then lock up?

Must say, if this was happening with scrollers, or if I was having problems with any gear I'd hired in, I'd expect it to be replaced ASAP... Specially if (to take this as an example) they'd suddenly developed the fault suddenly, with no re'stringing by myself or the crew.... If not, I'd definitely ask for the hire of them to be knocked off the final invoice!

*Just realised its been over a week since you posted this, did you ever find out what the problem was?*
