spiffoiow
Our theatre group has 4 martin mx-4's on DMX control which are used just for effects etc. We have a show coming up (tomorrow -eek) and now one of them has decided to do its own thing. It is set to 6 channel mode and there aren't any DMX channel issues because nothing has changed.when switched to stand alone it works correctly but when control is sent to it just sits on strobe at a weird angle. It does occasionally move to a slightly different place but it never functions correctly. The DMX signal must be ok because it passes through it to other fixtures that function perfectly. Is there a way to reset the scanner (properly - not just by sending a reset command which I have tried) Any ideas would be great - otherwise its going to have to be switched off for the shows which isn't ideal after its been incorporated into the light plot. Richard CSL
Very common fault with these scanners is a faulty dip switch block, try setting to other channels , I suggest you start with ch 1, and work your way up. Normally the switch which has failed will reveal itself as you go up the DMX ch numbers. You can then solder a bypass over the faulty switch. but make sure you write this on the bottom of the scanner afterwards.
