RoyS
Hi all, I have purchased the Daslight PC software and USB-DMX dongle and am starting to use it for a few school shows. The fixtures include 20 LED Pars and 24 channels of dimmer. Most of the theatrical productions are basically busked and I need to smoothly transition from one state to another on the fly. For a rock concert switching fixtures off/on is not a problem (as long as it’s on a beat) but not so great for a theatrical show.. To this end I cannot figure out how to do this in the software. I am now considering buying a midi control surface with faders to manually fade in/out states. So my question is: Do I need to use a midi controller or can the software do smooth transitions (with the help of a button push) Thanks for all comments. Richard CSL
yes you can use Daslight for shows/theatre, many on the Daslight forum run Pink Floyd style shows, my advice is to have all your dimmer fade in/out in the first group, all your movements / positions with fades in a second group. Then colours / gobos etc in another group. This will allow easy busking.
