abstract Vrx scanner

Hi Guys

 

I have an abstract vrx scanner, the mirror no longer pans which leads me to believe the stepper motor needs replacing.

 

Does anyone have any idea what type/brand I would need?

This has been covered many times before, but here we go again, try swopping the plugs for pan and tilt in the head unit as they are on a single plug on the circuit board. if the problem moves the driver chip ULC2008 will have to be changed, available from Maplin or CPC.

 

if the motor feels stiff to move you can strip and clean the motor, emphasis on clean, a human hair inside will block the movement of the motor, very often the bearings clog up, again thinners or white spirit soak , then lubricate with spray oil normally solves this problem.
