Pitmatic
Hi Guys Hope you dont mind a silly "whats that" question but a couple of years ago on the BBC glastonbury coverage they would do an unplugged session with an artist and in the background sitting on the ground pointing up at about 80 degress were what appeared to be a row of long nose PAR 64's with what looked like a rotating dome fitted over each light and this was fitted with glass elements that put out a very wide angled array of slowly rotaion beams maybe as much as 160 degress. Just curious if anyone lnows what they were Cheers Mark
swampman
Were they Pancans: a mirror + gel arrangement attached to a PAR ? I think they ceased to be around at least 10-15 years ago (open to correction on this point!). Was the video from then?
Jamtastic3
It could be anything from that description, maybe a moonflower of some sort perhaps... ?
Pitmatic
No it cant have been that long ago as the ting tings were one of the acts (unless in my old age my brain has left the country) The body really did look like a long nose par can on a standard looking floor stand but the rotating top was a flattened dome of black with thick looking pieces of glass set into it to give maybe 10 seperate beams the speed of rotation was very slow on a par with a mirror ball of course that what it looked like at a distamce. I cant find an image of a TCPLB1 ‘Pan Can’ which was used here http://pro-music-news.com/html/tour/e71125hs.htm I shall have another look
Jamtastic3
Actually I have seen Pancans pop back up in the last couple of years. There was some used on a channel 4 music show a while back. You can see a row of them in use in this clip...
Richard CSL
the ones in the video clip were made by optikinetics, there was a 12v 100 watt pinspot version as well, they could be sound activated or constant rotation.
