LED Video Wall

I'm completely new to video walls, but I have a query.

When watching X-factor, they have what looks like an LED video wall as the backdrop of the set. Can someone tell me exactly what they're using, and also whether anyone knows where I can hire something similar from.

Thnx.

Google might help here. But they're not cheap to hire, and I don't think someone at school is going to be able to afford it unfortunately! Especially once you consider the costs of some form of media server / control solution on top of it!

Anna Valley are providing the Toshiba TR2006R main screens alongside Barco MiTrix and Schnick Schnack for the Floor. See Here.

As for rental price, I really wouldn't expect much change from £15k for a week for a sensible sized screen, by the time you've factored in Power, rigging and crew. The 6mm isn't cheap stuff to hire in any way shape or form, but it does look absolutely awesome. I remember seeing it 'in the flesh' for the first time- it's the only time I've seen everybody stop on the get in and look at the screens in awe.....

I believe that the product you are talking about is a 6mm Black faced product that slides open for people to walk through.

As others have mentioned this is relatively expensive but there are other 6mm products out there from various companies.

If there is still time PM me and I can guide you in the write irection of where you can get this product.

Hi Martin, and welcome to the Blue Room.

It's considered appropriate on here to let people know that you work for a business that provides the services you are advertising so that peoples response can be made based on the fact that you maybe recommending your own employer. In this case your profile states you work for First Network, so your likely to recommend the Barco iLite 6XP that you guys stock, as opposed to an unbiased opinion.

Hi Pete,

In terms of budget my opinion would be to not go for the I6 but for I8 or I10, as the cost exapands exponentially when the pixels go over a certain amount and more processors/ more expensive processors have to be used. So by increasing the pixel pitch but remaining SMD you can still have a very clever seamless look. And the high resolution video products are very well suited to television applications and exhibitions, but too expensive to be used as a backdrop where the content will be of a lower resolution. You could even go for OLite, or stage electrics have a couple of very well priced products in the market.

Lighthouse products could be taken into consideration.

It all depends on the distance the audience will be away from your backdrop.

I tend to be unbiased, as we have a specific market and I don't deal with dry hire as part of my role.

BR
