Lighting_tech
Hi Guys, I am Board Oping my first show soon in a theatre enviroment and would really like to know the where abouts of the Back Button incase I double tap and faster / slower for the cue I am in incase I hit early / late. And anything else that may be useful! Many thanks, Lighitng_tech
Big Jay
Right above the go button
GridGirl
As Big Jay said, it's right above the GO button. Be aware, though, that it's a STOP BACK button - the first time you hit it, it will stop the current cue wherever it happens to be in its fade, the second time you hit it it will take you back a cue (assuming that you hit it mid-fade - if you're not mid-fade then it will go back a cue straight away). If you're running the desk in auto fade mode rather than manual fade mode, speeding up and slowing down the cue is probably going to take you longer than waiting for the cue to complete normally as there isn't just one button you can press to make it do that. Go when the stage manager calls your cues and you'll be fine! The 500-series GO buttons are not particularly easy to double-tap - just don't hold it down and you'll have no problems; you get decent resistance and a good "click" from the button when you've pressed it, not like the nasty buttons on the 300! I've been operating the 500-series desks for years and I think I've only double-tapped about once.
Bryson
It's meant for the OLE, but this also apes the physical key layout.
Lighting_tech
Brilliant thanks guys, show went well no double tapping! I plan to go on a course on the 500s which will expand my knowledge. But perfect replies!
Matthew Robinson
When I first op-ed a 520i, I hit the 'GO' button on a standby Q. 'OH Sh1t! How do I make it stop?!?' I hurriedly whispered to the guy who was guiding me through using the console. He leaned in and stopped it, about halfway through the fade. It was made worse by the fact that it was one of the 'Adelade's Lament's during Guys & Dolls and it was a fade to black-out.
Ynot
Best way to get out of that if you're stuck half-way thru a q is to reload the cue you're supposed to be on and hit GO.
