Biskit
This is 50% a "will this work" query and 50% "what desk". Hopefully my idea will be good so the latter will be unnecessary. I currently have a Jester 12/24, which is a great little desk for what it is. However I occasionally need a bit of moving-light capability on top of this, say up to 20 moving heads of various types, while retaining at least 24 dimmer channels. I understand a Jester can be used as a 'wing' for a Jester ML, so with my existing desk plus a Jester ML, could I... Have pallettes on the ML for things like position/movement/colour/gobo for different groups of fixtures which can be quickly accessed (and include/exclude different attributes as required), but have the fixture intensity (dimmer) controlled by faders on the 12/24? I'd then also have generic preset, chases etc programmed to submasters on the 12/24. I've read the manuals and this seems plausible... what I'm really asking is has anyone tried it, and how does it work in real life? If feedback is positive I will look to hiring/borrowing an ML for a trial. Until recently I had an Avo Pearl, but it had to go because the work simply wasn't there for it. My requirements here are more limited, but maybe my expectations are a little high? The Pearl was too big for 'man with desk' one night ops, especially upstairs ones! Two small briefcase style boxes sound far more appealing. Alternatively - any other suggestions based on these requirements? Budget definately sub £1k inc VAT. I don't really want to go down the computer route... been there before and it's just not for me. Many thanks!Ben.
smalljoshua
Have a look in the ML manual, it has instructions for slaving. You just use the 12/24 as a dumb fader wing, you store all the programs and patches on the ML and just run the 12/24 in preset mode. Josh
