Stevo_90
Hi, guys,I'm using a santo xt25 projector with a kramer vp-725dsa switcher and I'm having a lot of trouble getting all of my corners 'true'. I've checked my lens mount and screen flatness, with no joy. Any ideas? All help gratefully accepted!
Phill Power
What lens are you using? What height is the projector relative to the screen? Are you using keystone correction? Have you started from a full reset of the projector then lined up using the built-in test grid pattern? Is the screen itself actually square and true? (as in, are the sides parallel?) Stevo_90
OHi,the lens is the short zoom, 1.3-1.8:1? I'm rear projecting from just above the bottom of the screen. I have indeed started from full reset, and cancelled all keystoning and lens shift to no avail. The screen is a fastfold strapped into a surround as part of a set. I have tested this by pushing top corners of the screen to see if the screen is loose at any point, but the image still showed a slanted top edge. Thanks, S
Dave
(1) Limiting factor in projection accuracy is nearly always the screen flatness (2) Having said that, I think in this situation you may be running into the limits of the optics. Try raising the projector and using less lens shift.
Phill Power
Looking at the Sanyo datasheet, that projector seems to want to be up towards the middle of the screen, so basically what Dave said.
sleepytom
On Axis projection is always going to be flatter than using lens shift. But haviong said that is it actually noticable if your projecting real content rather than a line up grid? generaly getting it perfect is not possible and is considered to be a waste of time trying as nobody other than another profesional projectionist will notice a slight missalignment. Stevo_90
Just got done rigging the next gig with the kit and looks to be almost sorted with projecting to screen centre - still had to put the projector to side and project across though! Many thanks for all help and suggestions guys, I'm now much happier with end result.
