philw44
First of all, hello! Newb to this forum. Didn't realise there was a UK-based sound-engi forum. I have to admit, the yanks on other boards were starting to grate on me :) Currently I'm using 2 x QSC122i over 2 x RCF 705as subs. I don't really rate the QSC's - a bit thin and honky. The RCF's I am content with for the time being. The PA is generally used for rooms varying from 100-300 capacity. Sometimes I've had to crank the QSC but generally the 500w p/side has been enough to cope. I realised the other day that two affordable speakers I've liked the most thus far have been 15" (Mackie SA1532Z and Fohhn XT-5). The top end on the mackie is pretty nasty but I loved the general voicing of the cabinet. I could really get Toms to go 'boom', guitars to smack you in the face and emphasise the warmth of a vocal. With my current set-up I feel like there is a bit of a hole in the low mids. I've got plenty of lows, lots of clarity but nothing in that range that is making me feel the music! Anything you guys could recommend that would fit my tastes? Ie. Similar to the Mackie but without the awful highs? ! Note ** It's worth adding I am not too fussed about weight and I would prefer active . Thanks
Pattern123
The best thing to complement the 705's would be the RCF ART322's, worth giving them a listen, much better than the 312's.
