mitch95
Hi All,I have just got zero 88's ORB Lighting Desk.so far, I like the desk. it has some cool features, like its colour picker, tracker ball & LCD Screens. But I am also finding thing's it dosen't do, like the desk I had before Zero 88's Frog 2. the ORB dosen't seem to have a flash button & it can sometimes be confusing what stack page your on. what are your views on the console? peter
Hi Mitch I'm glad you're getting on well with the ORB. As with all our products, we aim to listen to everyones feedback on the desk and do anything we can to make things easier for you. Perhaps you might like to post your thoughts on our support forum (http://support.zero88.com/forum/) - the stack page issue you've reported is one I've not heard before, and it would be good to get feedback about exactly what you're finding confusing. Also, you have access to flash buttons for submasters and UDKs... what would you be looking to do with a flash button that you can't already do? Thanks for your feedback, and I hope to hear more! TomHoward
Just to chip in that there's a pretty extensive review / exploration of the ORB in the LSI that arrived yesterday.
mitch95
yes, I have seen the review on the ORB in LSI. Peter, when using the ORB, it's not exactly clear in saying what page number your on. We use a flash button because aswell as having drama pieces we also have music events held. Personaly, I learn't what I know on a Frog 2, so it will always be my favorite desk.and I would like to see some of its Rock & Roll style apear on the ORB, maybe? WiLL
The thinking behind the orb, as far as I understand, is a move away from the more 'live' orientated frog 2 to a theatre cue stack style. So asking for it to be more rock and roll is a bit... counter progressive? Just a thought.
peter
Hi Mitch As Will correctly says, the intention of ORB was to focus primarily on the theatrical control (through playbacks) - the Frog 2 is our 'rock and roll' busking desk (it has double the number of faders, double the number of UDKs, etc). However, it is pretty easy to busk a show on ORB - you just have to structure your show a little differently - perhaps using the pages of UDKs to give you access to different sections of the show, where on Frog 2 you would use a single page. I hope this helps clear things up - if anyone would like a demo of ORB, please feel free to drop me a line. Peter
