Presonus Firebox Issues

Hi,

 

I'm having some issues trying to get my new audio interface to work with my macbook. I'm new to the world of mackintosh so I'm not sure if its me, my new mac or the sound card!?

I was hoping someone here might be familiar with the Presonus or with a mac and might be able to point out something I'm not doing.

 

I'm using a macbook with 10.6 and the Presonus Firebox connected via firewire. I've downloaded and installed the latest firmware from Presonus that says its for os 10.5+. My mac sees it streight away but when I select it in sound preferences it says the device has no output controls. When I highlight it in the Audio Setup utility it shows the 8 outputs but their shaded and unselectable?!

 

Is it a problem with the interface I thought the outputs would be automatically selectable and routable.

 

Any tips would be gratefully appreciated
