robhall3192
HiI have a show I am doing the tech for but it is in such a small studio, the smoke machine, which is needed for effects, makes too much noise when used. Apart from putting it in a different room altogether and piping the smoke in, which I am already doing from the side of the stage, is there any other suggestions to damped or eliminate the sound of the machines motor and smoke ejecting ??Thanks. Russ83
If you are not using vast amounts of smoke then would smoke in an aerosol be better?Do a google for "smoke in a can", even maplin sell it. (I've never found smoke machines to be that noisy, just a 'pssss' as it comes out of the nozzle with a quiet click for the pump)
Wingwalker
Depending on how much smoke you are going to want / use, how about trying either a Tiny Fogger or a Goblin? Really small units with surprisingly reasonalble output. Obviously no-where near as much smoke as a "normal" machine such as a Minimist or larger but seeing as you are only in a small room does that really matter? Stage Electrics hire out the Tiny Fogger but not sure where you can get the Goblin from. Hope this helps, David.
csg
co2 powered machines are often used where noise is a problem - but will only be quiet if you need a low rate of smoke - ie running as a hazer. MDG atmospheres and the pea soup phantom I have are very quiet indeed if the gas pressure / smokw output is set low, but will be as noisy as other machines if going full pelt.
