Joe Mapson
HiI've been looking at the LED Par range on used lighting and 10 out of 10 and wanted some advice on best fixture. These lights will be used independent of a desk and set up by people who have no knowledge of lights. I'd like to know how much control you have over colour etc by using dimming on the fixture itself and how easy it is. I'll probably hire a few before I buy but just thought I'd seek a few opinions first.Ta
themadhippy
Theres no actual dimmers on the lanterns, what you get is a load of dip switches, most are for setting the DMX address, and depending on the model the remainder allow you to select various chases ,sound to light or single colours. MarkPAman
The ones I have are very fiddly to use with just dip switches & you don't get that much control anyway. I think each colour can be 0%, 50%, 75% or 100%, which leaves some pretty big gaps in the available range of colours. However, they do remember their settings when DMX is removed (as long as the power stays on). So if you get one of these and a short lead you may be able to use them like that. Of course, if you want them all the same colour, you may as well cable them all to that desk & not have to worry about the power staying on.
