Rob K
Today I've been going through some secondhand stuff that came in a couple of weeks ago. There are two Soundlab compact dimmers (just like these ones), and on one of them, output 4 is constantly on. The channel LED on the dimmer looks like it's getting DMX OK, but the channel just doesn't dim - it stays at 100%. Is this likely to be an easy fix, or shall I just see if I can get a refund? I'm not afraid of soldering if necessary.

The problem is likely to be a blown triac as when they fail they stop acting as a switch as just let the power flow through.

Pretty easy if you're ok with an iron.P
Rob K
I'll have a closer look then. Interior shots of dimmer to follow! Where would I look for a replacement part?
pritch
Usual suspects for spares. RS, Farnell, even Maplin might have them on the shelf in your local shop.
Guest lightnix
The manufacturer will be your first port of call - they'll at least be able to tell you what type to look for. After that it's probably a case of searching RS and / or Farnell... ...as pritch the quick-fingered just said
