PhilipLunar
Hi I need some help importing 3D DWG/DXF files, I have atempted this a few times now and it never imports properly, I am guessing I am either missing something really obvious or that is is not possible. Please could somebody advise me if it is possible and if so how I best achieve this and I would be much apreciative.I am being given a stage and rigging plan created in autocad for me to use to design with, upto now I have been re inputing most of this data but I am sure there must be an easier way. Many thanks for any help or advise in advance Phil LeeLighting Designer

Primarily the file needs to be cleaned up of all unneeded items, particuarly unneeded text, any paperspaces need to be removed as Wyg does not use these, the file also needs to be purged using the WBlock command. I do not know AutoCAD but if you are still having issues I have a to do list of things to be done in AutoCAD. RegardsAndy

DonkiDonki
If you look in the Wysiwyg manual you will find a section detailing what Wysiwyg likes in AutoCad files, and what it doesn't. One thing to look out for is the point of origin, Wysiwyg can only work in a fairly limited range while AutoCad is virtually unlimited. (I have seen documents with the drawing several miles from point of origin, for no obvious reason; Wyg will open the file but you can't see the drawing) As you already own AutoCad it should be a reasonably simple process to clean up the file once you know what your looking for. Good luck
