Hi Everyone,

Just wondered if anyone has a recent price list for Sagitter Lighting of Italy, or knows any dealers in the UK? Also, has anyone had any experience of their Tracer followspots?

Thanks a lot :** laughs out loud **: ,

Josh

P.S. Has anyone used a Teclumen Arena 1200 msr followspot? What did you think?

I've used the Arena 575 on a show. Good units, a bit jerky on the tilt so need some grease to get them working properly. I can safely say that this is how they arrive as new because I was the first person to use them from the hire company after they got them delivered.

I have to say, I'm not a huge fan of Teclumen Arena followspots - bit jerky, quite loud and other such non-niceties. However, that said, I've only used the lower power ones - the increased size might mean it's better built.

The ones we normally hire are the Robert Juliat spots, "Foxie" in our case. The colour frames are quieter, and the focussing tends to go easier in my experience.

Note though, that this comes from a student, you may have to wait for the more experienced people out there who've actually used one to tell you.

Regards, Ben.

<edit> I also remember the 250 having a knob dimmer - not ideal in my opinion, too inexact.

On the subject of Italian manufacturers, I would advise you to avoid Luci della Ribalta. We have a couple of their followspots and they are terrible - poor layout or controls - (the handle along the side fouls the vertical release handle), the colour frames are difficult to put together, and are all held on one latch - so insert one and the rest fall out of place, the shutter leaks a lot of light (so you're going to need black wrap in one of the filters, only adding to the previous problems), the construction is poor and the controls are easily bent, which means they foul the case. We also have a number of LDR flood battens as well, which are of similarly poor design and construction.

[Edit- Shutter, not dimmer - they are MSR.]

I'm fairly sure it was a Teclumen 1200 MSR that caught fire mid show one night, when me and another crew member were job-sharing followspot duties on a show at Derby Playhouse.

I wasn't there at the time, but the problem was a fan bearing disintegrating causing the fan to jam and then melt and smoke.

I wasn't a fan of the spot, and much preferred the beamlights that replaced the Teclumens for that show.

I found them a bit jerky, not fantastically ergonomic control wise, and I felt the tilt wasn't in the best place for a nice smooth action.

I have to go with the others and heartily recommend any of the Robert Juliat range.

AFAIR the Teclumens were bought 'cos they were relatively cheap and cheerful. If you have the budget I'd definitely go for something like the Robert Juliats.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the replys - seems like Teclumens are a bit cheap and not so chearful. On another note anyone ever experienced RJ Heloise - can't find anything about them on the search function.

Thanks this forum is invaluable
