martin-iow
hi jut need a lil bit of help has any 1 done or know anything about this prob developed an annoying problem. What happens is that one of the decks will become unresponsive - the display is lit, but clear, and none of the buttons work. Sometimes wiggling the cable that connects the controls to the main unit will get things working again. Once it gets working, it seems to continue fine but I'm uneasy about relying on this. I'm afraid Citronic is a budget brand. How old are the units? All I can suggest is if they are in warranty returning them to the supplier. Its near impossible to diagnose the fault without having the units in front of me.
martin-iow
thanks but I was hopeing there would be like a softwh update
Andrew C
If jiggling the connectors affects the fault, I doubt it is a software issue. I'd check the soldering on both plugs and sockets as a first suggestion. Also check the cable near the connectors for signs of over flexing, and possible broken cores. They could be just touching, most of the time.
martin-iow
I have done this but still no affect I found a post on a this site from Stuart91 dont know if he sorted it out. I found if u hit the unit it will come back on. what u think

KevinE
I was hopeing there would be like a softwh updateThe CD2 is an old unit without flashable firmware. The 8-pin sockets on the base and remote panel are the usual suspects here especially if you connect and disconnect the leads on a regular basis...they're meant to be kept connected all the time. http://img.alibaba.com/photo/11595906/Mini_Din_Socket.summ.jpg
Jammie300
Citronic Products are distributed by AVSL (Formerly Skytronic). It says on their website, for any technicial issues please see your retailer that you originally purchased the product from. I know that Skytronic are very good with repairs and replacement as the music shop I work in has an account with them Hope this helps James
martin-iow
ok thanks every 1 for your help I was just asking because I found a post on this site from 2007 like I said. sorry if I affended you all with what I am a dj and not a propper stage person or what ever it is
david.elsbury
It's nothing to do with being a "proper stage person" B-)The only reason we suggest the Mobile DJ foums is that there is more chance that someone over there has got experience with the gear in question (in this case the Citronic stuff) Other than that, post away! :)
dwents
We had several of these units by Citronic and they each developed faults each went back to Citronic for repair we had a letter back from the dealer saying something like the units are not designed for professional use and we should consider buying something more professional as they would not stand up to our use on the road We argued a lot over this and other issues as the brochure from Citronic clearly said professional cd player. We eventually sold all the players and never reused the dealer think it was his way of saying "thanks for your money but can't be bothered keep sending off these units so I'm going to put in a cop out clause and get you to spend more money on a better machine" I purchased a few Denons to replace them with and got great customer service into the bargain so the new dealer won not the old. I just remember the old school Citronic gear Avon II twin record console awesome in its time??Hand built in this country great customer service then sold out; built by robots in China, lousy customer service etc etc RIP Citronic of the 80's This is only my view of Citronic others may disagree. KevinE
To be fair the Denon uses the same 8-pin sockets and can wear in the same way.
Jivemaster
Strangely the difference between pro and amateur DJs can be as little as the cases the kit is in! Get decent cases and the client respects you more and the venue assumes you are a responsible pro. Also the kit lasts longer! So good cases have the dual benefit of making you look better and keeping the kit working longer. Wrt the current problem; how many control leads does the citronic have! can you change the left and right ones over? If the problem changes as you move the cable to the other deck then a pair of new cables may help, if the problem stays where it was as you change the leads over then it's likely that the PS2 ish connector on the PCB is failing, -sadly this is usually too expensive to fix and a replacement CD player is a viable option for professional reliability. menghini222
01225707429.. give this guy a ring if you have problems with Citronic gear as it was made in my home town and this guy used to make them and test them all, so he will know what the problem is straight away.. he also repairs them Menghini222
