admdisco
I have recently acquired a set of four Martin Roboscan 812's, they all work perfectly, well to start with. After about half an hour of use one of the fixtures loses its gobo position and all of a sudden will be displaying a different shape to the rest, after some time this changes from a different gobo to a closed shutter (think its just between the two gobos) the only way to solve this is to remotely reset the light, the light will then display in sync and fine but then the gobo will gradually slip out again, anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? Just for information; It's always the same fixture that does this (no: 3)It is controlled via DMXI've tried swapping the channels over with another fixtureI'm using DMX cableThe last fixture is terminated also when it is working the actions seem very slightly delayed compared to the rest of the fixtures. smalljoshua
Have you checked the Gobo Wheel is securely attached to the Stepper Motor, with IIRC 2 Grub Screws. Josh
Jivemaster
Stepper motors losing the occasional step is a problem if they have poor contacts or stiff movement. Mirrors lose sync if the original glass has been replaced with thick glass mirror from a glazier.
KevinE
The 812's are known for the gobo and colour wheel motors losing their magnetism...I guess its to do with their close proximity to a large source of heat (the lamp). You need to change the motors, this will make then accurate again! Dont be tempted to lubricate them, it will only put-off the final solution. Mr Steve
I used to have some 812s which exhibited this problem. As others have said, swapping out motors may solve your step loss. Also some editions of the scan's software claim to "Eliminate color / gobo step loss under certain conditions." More info at this link
