partyadz
Hi Guys The desk I'm using only has a global phantom power switch. I need phantom power for several AKG C 300 mics, although I have 8 Trantec S4.14 and a couple of DI boxes plugged into the desk. Will switching the global phantom supply on damage the radio mic receivers and DI box? Thanks
david.elsbury
We've covered this before, may pay to do a search. The short answer is that some recievers have no problems, although it's not recommended a lot of people do it just fine with no issues... but if you want to ensure there is no phantom getting to the receiver then lift pin 1 on the mic cable. J Pearce
DI box shouldn't care. Could the radio mics come in at line level? Some receivers don't care, some behave oddly with phantom power present.
johndenim
This is one that I pondered over many moons ago. The simple answer is no, your DI's and dynamics will be fine.
partyadz
The radio mics could possibly come in on line level, although relectant to do this, due to lack of leads! Is there anywhere I can find out if the S4.16 will take the phantom power with no probs?

partyadz
Cool, thanks Paul. I've also got a MAYA 44 USB soundcard plugged in too - will that be ok?!
david.elsbury
Either try it and see, or contact the manufacturer.... A concurrent post has been automatically merged from this point on. Or, if it's a balanced signal, lift pin 1.
