LXbydesign
They were GU10's and they were on 4 bars of 4, with all 4 birdies going into 1 cable. So there wasnt that much faffing at all really. Yes it would have been easier to put a fresnel or flood on their but the par 16's did fine. Right , so in fact it was more than 8 birdies then.!!! Fair enough!! 16 might have more wallop!! Yes sorry if I worded it wrong in the first place. 16 birdies seemed to fill the auditorium with enough light and I was happy with the result. pete LD
And just to sort out this birdie issue....As I was the LD for the show that used the birdies as house lights I will fill in the missing bits!!There where 2 250w wash lights on pros booms that where focused up on to the white roof in congo blue, so the room was basically lit by them. I then used 4 575 profiles from on stage going gobo work out in to the room, again in a dark ish blue. I used the birdies as white fill so the audience could read there programs. So it was "Designed" like that as aposed to what I had left.the birdies are 50w gu10s mounted on little bars of 4 that I mede up for just that kind of work so easy rigging and no transformers.I agree with all the posts saying a 500w flood! it works, looks better than tubes and is dimmable. And as another note to Aiden and any other young Lds, when your looking at something like how a stage or auditorium is lit look at the whole picture. you might be missing something! in this case it was the 6 movers washing the room that made all the difference!! leejlight
I have the same problem at my old school, so instead of connecting to the lx board (which were not allowed to do) I chucked some spare fresnels on foh bar and used them as 'warmers' if you like, and just use them as preset in the cues. It gives it a bit more of an atmosphere in the room. I know all this has been said before but the more advice, the better.
