back_ache Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Hi, We do installs mainly in the pub/club sector and use Electrovoice as we are happy and confident with their range. however due to the exchange rates crashing their prices have gone through the roof. so, we are looking for someone else to become installers for, ideally one manufacturer so we can build a business relationship with them. who would you suggest that makes a good range for our sector and still with reasonable prices? Neil
Tony Gayle Audio Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Neil, Try the guys at EM Acoustics. They are a british company and recently supplied the sound rig for Westfield Centre in West London. The are very keen to establish new business and listen to what the end client want.http://www.emacoustics.co.uk/
adamski1010 Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 +1 on EM Acoustics. Fantastic products and excellent service. I'm especially fond of the M-12 Floor Monitor. The venue I work at has 12 of them and they sound fantastic. Adam
Matt Pengelly Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I'm especially fond of the M-12 Floor Monitor. The venue I work at has 12 of them and they sound fantastic. To the best of my knowledge the only EM product I have ever used was one of their 12" wedges (I don't know the catalogue to say if it was that model or not!), but I was seriously impressed by them. Couldn't believe the clout they had for such little chaps. Have you looked at Void? It depends what sort of client/budgets you're working with obviously, but for my money they're some of the best boxes out there for pub/bar/club install and not silly money either. Deals can be had too. If I remember to bring it up next time I see a friend of mine who gets through shed loads of their stuff I will ask him who he deals with there.
drsound Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Sadly almost all manufacturers have raised their prices because of this so you might find it's had an impact even on those British companies. A large number import materials or components from outside the UK. Alternatively they might have manufacturing/assembly carried out in China to be able to compete. Since most of the world outside Western Europe runs on the dollar we're in a bit of a tricky position.
Rob_Beech Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 As David rightly says. It's not just the manufacturing costs that have risen. Even if the wood to build the cabinets is sourced from outside the UK (which no doubt it is) then this will have a massive effect on the price. For a time, a square one graphics retail price was near on a DN360's I'm not sure if that's the same, I believe this was due to where components were sourced and where they were built (square one in china etc), but I could be wrong. Of course, you would expect to find that a British manufacturer will be after the work so may get you some nice pricing as a new and potentially large customer so give them a go. I've liked all the EM stuff I've heard, I've not however liked all the void stuff I've heard, infact I haven't been too impressed with much of it, though I haven't heard alot and it was with limited program material so don't let that put you off. Of course, the obvious companies at Martin, Turbosound, Funktion 1, But be advised that some of the cheaper boxes are made in China, and alot of the components of them are too. If of course these are high end installs then it won't matter so much, such as the Q light boxes (not sure if the nuQ is the same) and certainly the wavefront stuff from Martin were British built, though not always British components (though certainly not Chinese). Your best bet is to have a phone around and see what people can offer you. put the ball in their court.
Dan Gruner Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Yes, I have had exactly the same problem recently and have not been very impressed with the manufactures - EV and Midas to name a few - for what in my opinion, are ridiculous and unjustified levels of price hikes on certain lines. Some prices may have to go up - for reasons well known to everyone. However, in these current economic times I expect the manufactures to help us all out and keep these increases to the minimum. My rant for the day! Dan
Andy Simmons Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Have a look at Logic System, British designed and built using predominantly European components. good range for your type of installs as well.
mostlyharmless Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Turbosound have just released a new install range. Looks good with a lot of stuff from their other ranges in it.
back_ache Posted April 27, 2009 Author Posted April 27, 2009 RCF I've never thought of RCF for (relatively) high power and robust applications, how does it perform?
Sir PA Super Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 RCF I've never thought of RCF for (relatively) high power and robust applications, how does it perform? I think they've got one of the best selections of products for install and as many will tell you on here, it performs extremely well at all levels.
Ben Lawrance Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 My vote would go for Turbosound. Their range of products are ideally suited to this type of market, and having heard a lot of Turbo installs, can say that in the correct hands, they are some of the best installs I have heard. Turbo list a load of places on their website that have had Turbo installs. Maybe find one local to you, and go and have a listen.
