lampieman Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Hi all, I did a search for the Adelphi and nothing showed up so am asking this question.. Has anyone worked at the Adelphi Hotel Liverpool technical wise ever put a show into the main banquating hall? I have the possibility of quoting a job there and am trying to do some homework before I go to the hotel etc, if anyone has info like if you are able to fly the rig, power availability, I have found on the web the venue size etc and that there is 3 phase power, but no detail of the size of the 3 phase, also info of the stage size etc... So basically any information people may have of the room etc would be useful. Many thanks Gareth
Charlie Jeal Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Hi Gareth, The stage itself isn't very big, I seem to recall the 3 phase supply being 63A and is situated slightly above and in the wings on stage right, there may also be either a single pahse 32 or 63A supply as well. The last time I was in there there was certainly no fly points and no way of attaching any so ground support systems are the order of the day. The stage is no more than a couple of feet high kind of more a raised platform in front of a pros arch of sorts. Multicore/cable run to FOH is around the wall to the right as you face the stage. Also load in/out can be quite awkward if you have to use the concrete steps at the rear of the building. HTH Charlie
dave_m Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Stage is approx 8m wide by 5 deep, and they have kit in house to extend this forwards ... As Charlie said, power is SR, 63/3. Not found any smaller than this though when I've been there ... There's enough local power around the walls and things, and most of the doors have small tacks in the top to facilitate running cables over. No points, so tripods/GS are order of the day. There's not much facility to store cases through the gig .. there's some space in the corridors either side of the stage though. Access is horrible, there's a rather slow lift, and then there's the aforementioned very steep, very slippery, steps. Not nice at all .. there are some steps around the lift area but from memory they're a tad narrow. Hope this is of some use to you! Dave
lampieman Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 thanks for your help guys... when you been there before what have you put in etc I know it be suited to event but be very handy to know roughly whats been put in there..
Charlie Jeal Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I can't help you much in terms of lighting, but for sound I've only put stuff in there for Uni balls with well known acts and for internationa beatles weekend gigs so probably stuff thats way out of the league you're talking. As a rough guide though I've used 4 of the Adlib DF4 2x18 subs per side with 4 of the AAFD2 12" and 2" high packs per side succesfully as a minimum, there again I've also stuck 4 stacks of Nexo Alpha per side in as well, desks have varied depending on the event. It all depends on the nature of the event and kind of coverage you need, one guy I know has done an event that didn't need concert level coverage across the entire room with 2 stacks of Turbo Flood and TSW718 2x18" subs per side. You will need a decent length multicore 50m+ to get round the side of the room to the foh position. Depending on the nature of the event some zoned and delayed speakers on sticks can help if theres any talking heads sort of speeches involved. If you need more help/advice it might be better done via pm. Charlie
dave_m Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Most of what I've put in there has been weddings ... last one was a stage rig, led uplighting around the room, pinspots on tables, and a profile breakup wash ... Nothing special really, and everything else has been variations around this theme really! HTH Dave
