Dodgecaliber
Hi all, Client's looking for live 8 style scrolling names across a screen. Only need to go for a single screen output (It will get split onto several screens on a mixer later) Similar to this Any ideas how I can achieve this? - Without a media server! jason5d
are you after live onscreen sms text?
Pete McCrea
With a media server? Flash. Powerpoint. If your going to split it into several screens then you'll possibly need to consider the aspect ratio as you create it.
Dodgecaliber
The inhouse tech has informed me of the way their system works, the input is sent through a mixer and sent to various points in the venue. The format needs to be something I can (Preferably) burn onto DVD. In the venue, it is displayed onto LCD's and fixed screens. It's not an SMS style, I have a couple thousand names that the client want's to slowly scroll across the screen. I can do it no problem on some basic, commonly used programs, however, I need several names on at once, at different positions. Powerpoint can do it, although the scrolling is a little too fast. Toxopholist
Also be aware, the powerpoint speed will vary with the length of the text, Flash would be 1st choice for me... HTH Charlie
sleah
A rough'n'ready way, as you wish to go to DVD, could be Windows Movie Maker. I think it can do scrolling text. To have several at once, you may have to do one, then re-import the movie do another and so on, could be time consuming though :P Another way is Adobe Premiere.... I'm guessing you mean several lines at once, rather than credits style or news-ticker style? ;)
Stee_cri1
You could use adobe affter effects or adobe flash, this would work perfectly and then burn it onto the DVD using the new adobe authorer. If you need any more info on this please give me a shout. Hope this helps
MarkPAman
At £45, the cheapest version of Sony Vegas should do this quite easily. You may even have some luck with the free trial :)
Jerome
Maybe a solution, maybe not. I don't know how wide you can make the page on photoshop like a panorama, maybe someone else does. If you can get a very wide image on photoshop then you could type the names in yourself (yes, boring) and make them look how you want. Take the image into a video editing software- final cut, adobe premiere and animate the picture right to left so they move across the screen. ElectroKinetic
Try downloading some of these and using them with some vj software: http://vjforums.com/showthread.php?t=2658
Jack
Apple Motion would be fairly easy if not a bit long winded. Final Cut has a program called live text that comes with it, I'm sure that has a feature on it that would allow you to chuck all the names in. Let us know how you get on!
