gareth
Blimey, that's what you call a clearout! Some interesting bits of lighting 'archaeology' in there ... if I had some more space, there's a couple of things in there I might put a bid on just for the novelty of it! paulears
I've been looking at their auctions for a while. The one thing that's important is the 15% fee to the the auctioneers - makes eBay seem positively cheap. Don't forget the VAT, too!

johnhuson
I'm sure PRG will also be paying auctioneers fees as well but in every auction I've seen like this there is also a buyers fee as well.
bruce
Doesn't the seller (in this case PRG) pay the auctioneers' fees.. Nope. Sale-Specific Terms & Conditions Inspection Details :TBCBuyer's Premium : 15%VAT / Tax : 15%Payment Date : 23rd March 2009Collection Date : 26th March 2009 The "Buyer's premium" is the auctioneer's commission. And you also have to pay VAT on the buyer's premium - which means that your bill will be 32% higher than the "hammer price".
Sound In Gloucestershire
15% seems to be the going rate for auctioneers though, I have see David Dickensons Real Deal you know
musht
It is generally 15% off the vendors cheque as well , plus 15% of sale price plus VAT on total for the buyer. Saves having to dispose of it as WEEE though which costs nowadays...... What was wrong with the CS4s that never got out the boxes?
tokm
What was wrong with the CS4s that never got out the boxes?Probably bought in for a job that had its rig trimmed or just never happened.. That or they'd been on order and only just turned up when Greenford was shutting up shop. Interesting that they didn't magically disappear. As I understand it.. if it didn't have a barcode on it, HQ didn't know it existed and thus wouldn't miss it in the move. Of course I'm not implying anyone took advantage of that ;). In regards to the auctions.. yes they're big, but as some of us will remember, these semi pale in comparison next to the Dome clear out and are a drop in the ocean compared to the ones Procon occasionally do.. 100x Mac 2ks's... 150x Studio beams, etc etc.. Apparently surplus! Most likely because they came back off tour and Procon didn't have anywhere to put them and I suspect there's a little bit of that with some of the gear PRG are selling off. They've got hundreds of certain things, why bother going to too much effort making space for another load of the same. T
boac
Also, they're CS 1s, not CS 4s. The other day I came across the catalogue for an auction PRG held back in 2005 I think, lurking in the depths of my hard drive. Seems like there's a few items that weren't sold then may have been carried over to this one.
lampieman
its worth noting that PRG longbridge is so large that last time I heard they hadnt even used a lot of the space and when Croydon closed they boxed what they could up and shipped it up and it could just hide in a corner if they so wished.. Tho there is a hell of a lot of kit that simply never got used... and I imagine its a perfect time when relocating all there stock to one location to sell off a lot of old kit and replace it.. Also as now the auction has ended did anyone on here get hold of any kit? Gareth(ex PRG Croydon and Greenford)
drsound
We picked up some bits and bobs of cable stock but there didn't seem to be many bargains going by the close of play. In fact I noticed a few lots going to more than you'd expect pay from one of the usual second-hand routes. Perhaps it's a case of auction mania gripping people. eBay-itis? Perhaps it's a case of auction mania gripping people. eBay-itis?It's the same with ALL auctions open to the rank & file. People with NO experience or gumption to find out what it's all worth will always end up hiking up the prices with no need. I bid on just one item - the only thing I found there that I could actually say I needed - and was outbid way over what I was prepared to pay for a second hand bit of kit!
