DMX Software - Par Cans

I plan on buying a few DMX LEDJ RGB parcans 56. As a controller I am to use the Lumidesk Ultimate USB controller. However there are no preset software profiles for the pars. The pars are 4 channels; 1=R, 2=G, 3=B, 4=shutter/dimmer/strobe. What profile should I create in the software, 1 channel seperate for each colour (R,G & B), or an RGB palette which seems to occupy 1 channel? There also isnt a shutter/dimmer/strobe all in one type of profile, so its either one, which one should I assign?

One last thing, as this is my first time working with DMX LED PARs, do RGB pars produce white light?

Many Thanks,

Daniel

Are you sure they have a shutter!?

I would write each channel as a separate channel as doing 1 DMX channel with all three channels won't work.

If you put all the R G B LED's on then yes they do produce a kind of white light.

LED pars without an overall dimmer channel won't work as a profile on most desks, so I suspect they won't on your software.

Thats what it says in the manual...

ok but you can mix colours to make other colours, right?

When I say profile I meant a preset specific light profile which has the model and type of light, and it automatically loads the channels and what they are. That does not exist for these pars

probably not, because the attribute distribution seems to be one of those flexible things. I had some replacements arrive, and despite being the same looking, with identical labels, there are differences in the attribute list. All I have done in treat each one as three separate dimmer channels, leaving out the fx channels. so 71 76, 81 is red 72, 77, 82 is green 73, 78, 83 is blue. This works on the mk1 and the m?? ones - trying to do it properly just seems difficult to do. Some appear to have subtle differences. Probably just different batches of production. Having proper ones available in a control is very unlikely.

In many consoles these should be patched as Generic RGB or Generic RGBI - dependent on which batch you got.
