I used a few recently to wash some walls that were about 3.5m Height and they covered them very well

However any more that 4-5m I think they would struggle !

Also one unit became extremely hot - not something you expect from an LED fixture but eurolite replaced that for us !

All in all for the money there good units !

Thanks lightjocky. What was the coverage like with multiple ones next to each other, did you get any dark patches inbetween the wash from each one?

Awful, really terrible. We used 60 on a budget install very much against my wishes and they have had no end of problems:

1. Lots of failed LEDs within the first few weeks. Particularly green ones for some reason. All random rather than whole chains failing.

2. Crap and inconsistent flood angles ranging from tiny to massive (technical terms elude me for how poor they are).

3. One unit consistently decides to stick itself onto 100% green and ignore DMX until it is power cycled.

4. Very noisy fans for low power fixtures.

5. Very poor white colour to the extent that we run them at something like 100%-20%-60% (RGB) to get anything like an acceptable white and then have to suffer the loss in overall intensity.

When we do this type of install and are forced into using budget unit, we generally buy half a dozen extra fixtures to enable us to replace any dodgy units immediately and then we deal with the manufacturer later to avoid delays to our clients. In this case we will have to replace up to 50% of the fixtures, probably at our own cost as they have been installed for some months now. I can see us eventually having to scrap them all and replace them with something remotely reliable, again at our own cost.

Bear in mind my comments are based on comparing these to other generic budget LED items (other Eurolite kit, Stairville etc) not to £2.5k fixtures. I am sorely disappointed even against these low expectations.

Remember that the 'white' from any strict RGB LED solution is usually pretty rubbish, even at the higher end of budget. They aren't designed to do that.

- That's why people like ColorKinetics offer 'White' LED fixtures, many manufacturers have RGBA and ETC are now introducing X7.

(ROAGCBI doesn't really roll off the tongue!)

Also, the 'whitest' white is never "all at full" for LEDs - that would require perfect choice of LED wavelengths to give 'white', which is both almost impossible and very restrictive of the overall gamut.

I can't comment on reliability of the Eurolite stuff, but I did find they were quite inconsistent with the attribute layout across the range of apparently "just RGB" fixtures, and it seems very difficult to find the user manual or DMX guides to some of their fixtures.

(Some use RGB plus a 'few' attributes of macro. Some have the same plus Intensity. Some have fewer attributes, some have more. It was very confusing!)

Quite, one does expect the things to need a mild tweak to find an acceptable white, not the suppression of almost all green. Remember 20% DMX is basically off.

Oh yes, also the consistency across the LEDs, both in one unit and across the units, is non-exsitent. I don't expect them to have been matched to within 0.001nm but it shouldn't be possible to work out which poor unfortunate sweatshop labourer fitted them just by looking at the output on a white wall.

As I said Tomo, very poor effort when compared with other low-budget fixtures. I'm well aware of the reasons for including amber etc in higher priced fixtures.

Bear in mind that "Eurolite" isn't a range of products. It's a random moniker applied by the importer to generic lights from a range of different factories. The same fixtures appear under dozens of names and we all get the emails trying to flog us containers of 100,000 of them for 3p each. It would just be nice if one of the importers took the time to try the odd product before adding 3000% and selling them to us.

Wow, ok sounds like there have been some pretty varied experiences.

What else would people suggest looking at that are similar? I'm fairly keen on the narrow beam angle, as I want to uplight the wall from the bottom and get fairly high coverage if possible.

Also, I did manage to find the user manual for these fixtures. I'd upload it here but I can't work out how....

If money isnt too much of an option I would stick with Pixeline 1044, the colourBlaze, or even a few colourCast 14's.

I would agree with the pixelline1044 they are great but abit pricey. You could try something like an Ipix satelite or even the CromaQ DB4's that are quite good

Hope this helps

For under £200 each, there aren't many options really.

At that budget, you are basically expecting a few failures - you may or may not get them replaced by the manufacturer.

Expect to need to replace some of them once just out of warranty, and expect not to get the 'same' fixture when the replacement arrives.

At present, the big three manufacturers are Pulsar, Color Kinetics and SGM.

- You are probably looking at £1500 and up per unit after discounts for suitable units from these manufacturers.

But they will support you, and you can expect the fixtures to have a good build quality and last for many years.

Just thought I'd add this -

I haven't used these but I use eurolite leds par56's all the time.

First of all the leds do fail after a while (especially the green ones ?!?!)

They aren't paticuarlly birght compared to other led parcans ive tried. So I don't know whether these will sufice if you had other lighting on top.

Hope this helps, sorry if its a bit ;)
