Mics for foldback

Hi, I've realised that hiring a some PCC 160s is probably the best way of getting stage cover for a musical I'm doing. This thing is, how many? Here is a diagram of the stage.

There are currently 3 hanging overhead mics on the upstage side of the pros arch which I'm hoping will be good enough to pick up the upstage sound, including that coming from the raised areas at the back. The question is, with a 22ft wide stage, will 2 PCC160s at the stage edge (on a thrust, 3ft forward of the pros arch) be sufficient? The mics won't be for FoH, just for picking enough of the action for the MD and band (offstage) to hear what's going on. They will be using headphones (although there will be a couple of wedge monitors as well). Any thoughts most welcome.

I'm sure that if it's just so the band can hear what's going on then 2 should be enough. However, are the voices being miked? If so, then what's wrong with sending a mix of the radiomics to the headphones? If not, then why aren't the PCCs going through the PA? I'm sure there's a good reason but I'm intrigued. :)

The voices aren't being miked for the simple reason that the venue isn't large enough to require it. It's only a 250 seater auditorium. And we're an amateur company with a minuscule budget so can't afford it! If the mikes are reasonable then I will be offering a DI feed from the foldback mixer to the FoH people but I worry about non-competent operators having access to feedback opportunities! Also, the band won't be miked up properly so they wouldn't be able to go through the FoH speakers making it all sound a bit odd! Thanks for you help, I guess I'll only know once I try it!

If I was doing this for FOH I'd probably have 3 PCC160s but for the application you mention I'd also say that 2 will do the job.

However, if there's any chance to move the hanging mics about halfway upstage (and angle them back if the point straight down as so often happens) I'd guess that would improve coverage.

Not sure I'll be able to move them back, they are kinda part of the fixed setup. They do point back however, they have bits of wire holding them in position. They look very much like these ones although I'm not sure what make they actually are. I'll have a word with the tech guys at the theatre to see if I can move them from where they are currently as I think that's an excellent shout!
