phill79 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Hi, I do apologise for being a bit dim here but I have been asked to find out what kit is required so that the following can be accomplished: Up to 7 radio microphones being used at the same time with the ability to sing over a backing track when necessary. (6 headset and one handheld). Mostly it will not be used at the same time, but sometimes it will be required. Do I need to buy 7 sets of multi chanel radio mic/receivers?What do they all plug into? A mixing deck? Any help is appreciated.Thank you
Simon Lewis Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 To use all seven mics simultaneously, you will need seven separate radio mic systems (mic, transmitter and receiver). Even if they are not used simultaneously, you may experience problems trying to "share" the same frequencies. If they are UHF mics, then you will also need a radio mic licence, as three to four systems is the most that can be run in the "free to use" spectrum. There is a long running thread in the sound section that discusses the future of radio mic spectrum - it's worth reading, as significant changes are proposed that would mean some of the existing radio mics potentially not working in future. Of course, how this affects you will depend on whether you are buying or renting. Oh, each radio mic receiver plugs into a mixing desk, so you'd need 7 channels free on the desk for this. HTH, Simon
