steve1981 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Hi all. Im new to this forum. Just wondering if anyone could advise me as to the best and cheapest place to buy MSD250/2 discharge lamps from? I have heard that mico lighting are cheap, but do you need an account and do yu have to do a certain amount of business before you get a discount? Thanks.S.
csg Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 all I can say is shop around - the usual candidates for me are: ac technologiesthe lamp company ( baldock)white lightetc etcalso take a look at online retailers like thomann, but I stronly recommend that you do not buy cheap unbranded lamps - phillips, sylvania, general electric etc are the ones to go for
tokm Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Paul @ 10 out of 10 productions AC Lighting Thomann All of them stock decent/Phillips lamps. Nothing personal csg, but IMO people should avoid Sylvania! Seem to pop as easily as the OEM lamps that thomann do.. At Least they're CP lamps do anyway. Perhaps I had a bad batch or the courier knocked them about a bit too much? HTH, T
csg Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 I have personally never had any probs with sylvania - they are now part of osram, so I should imadgine the quality will only improve. I have quite a few sylvania 250's knocking around.
Jamtastic3 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Watch out for Ushio lamps! We got a batch of 8 and they all totally failed the same way after around 200 hours - never buying Ushio discharges again after the drama and damage the lamps caused.
csg Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I dont recall ever being offered a ushio discharge lamp, but thanks for the tip. Thats a strange one, ushio HPL lamps seem to be absoloutely fine
