gareth
Lens cleaning is easy. The top cover of the lens tube is in two pieces and slides open - by opening one half at a time and positioning the lenses accordingly, you can get good access to both sides of each of them. Reflector cleaning isn't quite so convenient, but is still easy - just open up the lamp tray, take the lamp out (observing the usual handling precautions for tungsten halogen lamps) and reach up inside to clean the reflector (watch you don't catch your hand on the sharp corners!). That covers the optical elements - for everything else, the usual tools of compressed air, a rag and a paint brush will get them looking nice and tidy. kerr.hume
Hi Simon, Basic cleaning is very simple. Our rutine for cleaning lamps every year is simply to give the casings a wipe down with a damp cloth and to give the lenses a dust with a clean dry paint brush. Simple as that. I would try to avoid using anything that will leave smudges on the lenses. Hope this helps, Kerr.

themadhippy
One thing to check if your output is crap (for a cantata) is the lamp base is in the correct slot for the lamp type.
Just Some Bloke
I would try to avoid using anything that will leave smudges on the lenses.Though, of course, Isopropyl Alcohol won't. Use with a cloth that won't shed anything and you'll get nice clean, smear-free lenses.
Tomo
DON'T use glass cleaners. Cantatas didn't have much in the way of lens coatings, but you don't want to damage them further than they already are. White vinegar actually works reasonably well, although it does leave your lights smelling like a fish'n'chip shop. Isopropyl alcohol with a lint-free cloth is the best, but can be harder to find. Just Some Bloke
Isopropyl alcohol with a lint-free cloth is the best, but can be harder to find. Maplins and cpc both sell it if that helps (and it's quite cheap!).
