djsteviec Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Hi. In one of the venues that I look after, they have lost the front plastic covers for the cd drawers. They just push and click onto the end of the drives when they are out. I have contacted CHS but apparently they are £20 EACH!!!! Does anyone know of anywhere any cheaper? Or of anyone that has any second hand ones that they don't need? Is there a Denon graveyard or something that I can get body parts from so to speak? ** laughs out loud **. Steve.
Sound In Gloucestershire Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 the £20 sounds about right, unless you can find someone with a dead unit
muzz26 Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Hi Steve, Try www.upinsmoketheatre.co.uk they reckon they can beat most prices on anything - maybe they will know where to get some cheap from (or some reps that will fit). I use them for a few bits like this and they may be of help. Murray
djsteviec Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 the £20 sounds about right, unless you can find someone with a dead unit Thats well expensive though isn't it!!! For a bit of plastic. Might have to have a little look around a few neighbouring bars if you know what I mean. ** laughs out loud **.
Andrew C Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Really? You have to pay someone to take the order, some one to pick & pack it, someone to get it into the post, someone to re-order stock, some one to manage the above, minimum order charges to pay, and some profit for the owners. Yes it seems steep, but probably not out of order.
KevinE Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 You're admitting to the possibility of having to steal some? I'm afraid that since CHS took over the non-dealer spares from Hayden Labs, the prices have gone up somewhat. The drawers work perfectly well without the fronts..are you desperate?

Na, not desperate for them. Just wanted to make them all look nice. But not at the cost of £40. ** laughs out loud **. And no, of course I'm not going to steal any. I was joking! A concurrent post has been automatically merged from this point on. Really? You have to pay someone to take the order, some one to pick & pack it, someone to get it into the post, someone to re-order stock, some one to manage the above, minimum order charges to pay, and some profit for the owners. Yes it seems steep, but probably not out of order. So to buy a piece of plastic half inch high, half inch deep, 5 inches wide, and that costs pennies to produce will take 5 people to process??? I don't know what company in particular you are talking about but I think they need to sit down with their staff and talk about efficiency.

And then there's rent for the building they occupy, employer's liability insurance, electricity, water, phone bills, accounting staff, IT support, cleaners... I don't know which business in particular you're talking about but there aren't many out there that have no overheads at all...
david.elsbury Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 And then there's the moulding and tooling to produce said peice of plastic with the appropriate slots and sizing to fit onto the player drawer, plus the colour to match the front panel.... the list goes on...
Andrew C Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 And then there's the moulding and tooling to produce said peice of plasticThis has already been covered in the manufacturing of the original, but space to hold all these spare parts beyond the mfr run will cost...
Sound In Gloucestershire Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 also, how many are they going to sell? But they will probably hold them in stock for many years, just for a few people who lose them and where else are you going to get one from? :** laughs out loud **: personally, id get them replaced, the gap allows alot more dust and air to get into the unit, which is never ideal
cliveybaby Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Just buy them you will spend more time (aka money) messing around and doingbodge jobs They are their for a reason and they tidy it up.
