Boundaries like AT's U851R usable as stage-floor mics?

I've been reading about Audio-Technica's relatively recent line of cardiod condensor boundary microphones.

For example, the U851R.

The descriptions of the mics seem to emphasize applications like tabletop mounting for board meetings & conferences, or on lecterns, and suchlike.

Can these mics also serve as floor-mounted mics for stage plays and musicals?

They're priced significantly lower than the Crown PCC160, which seems to be the industry standard for stage applications. Of course, the lower price doesn't mean anything if they won't serve the purpose...

I wouldn't recommend them for floor mics purely on the basis that as well as picking up vocals they also pick up alot of floor noise and the pit musicians (who are hard enough to contend with at the best of times!!) For all the stage work we cover we use something like the Audio Technica U857QU mounted on a tabletop stand, far better gain before feedback and as they are more directional they only pick up what you want them to.
