back_ache Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Hi, I think I must be going mad. We have a fairly standard install nightclub with two dancefloors fed from one dj all using balanced cabling. at the last minute the venue have decided they want to be able to have the option of a having seperate dj's for each dancefloor(much like we have told them from day one :-) ). simple enough, we just need to fit a simple 2x2 stereo zoner, however what we cannot find one with stereo balanced inputs, cloud used to do one called CX but have discontinued it. We can make a balanced line receiver (or buy) to use with a unbalanced zoner easily enough but would prefer an off the shelf zoner with it all built-in any ideas of who makes one? thanks in advance.
back_ache Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 Allen & Heath GR2 - or is that OTT ;) I did look at that but it seems to just have unbalanced for line-level inputs. It's frustrating as it is just a simple task and if they wanted it from the beginning we could have used a sound processor with capability built in :-( the other option is to give the them a patch bay and hope they remember to mute the processors before hand ;-)
MarkPAman Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 They're balanced according to the spec: InputsMic/line 1-6 in Balanced Phoenix screw terminal (mic 1 duplicated on XLR, pin2 hot)Pad out 2k ohm -60 to -20dBuPad in 10k ohm -30 to +20dBu and OutputsZone out 1,2 out Impedance balanced Phoenix screw terminal (Duplicated on RCA phono) 0dBu <75ohmAux out Impedance balanced Phoenix screw terminal (Duplicated on RCA phono) 0dBu <75ohm Now I've looked at the manual again though, it looks as if the outputs are one stereo & two mono so may be no good for you. ;)

How about the APART PM 7400 II? I know it has more inputs than you require but Mic 1 & 2 are balanced inputs and it has two stereo outputs. I've installed a good few in pub background music systems and found them very good and reliable. http://www.thomann.de/ie/apart_pm_7400_preamp.htm I
