Le Maitre Neutron STAR problem.

I have brought a second hand neutron star hazer and I'm having a few problems with it. I was hoping anyone familiure with the unit can offer advice.

First of all I have noticed it only produces a stream of mist half the time so 10 out of every 20 seconds. Is this normal?

Also when I turned it on the other day the fan didn't start, I initially checked the monitor led and it was flashing once every second. Referring to the online service manual it states there is a DIN plug not connected or NTC failure. I'm not sure if this is linked to the fan failure or not but I opened up the unit and wiggled all connections checking the DIN plug (not quite sure what the NTC is). The fan has started working again but the monitor led is still flashing. Haze was produced throughout as described above but is it something I need to worry about? Maybe someone can explain the fault in laymans terms.

Cheers,

Matt.

I too have bought a second hand neutron star hazer and yes the hazer will puff out on spurts because the heating tube needs to heat up before the next liquid passes through it and then gets dispersed by the fan.

Its normal for the led to flash for the time that the haze liquid is passing through the tube, being heated up and dispersing then the led should turn off for about 5-10 seconds before resuming again.

Make sure you let its do its cleaning thing after every time you use it otherwise itl be a blocked coil before you know it. you can also get from le maitre some tiny drill shaped metal sticks that you push down the coil to get rid of the crap that builds up inside. this should be done every time its used but admittedly I dont bother most times. if there is very quick flashing from the led you will need a new coil which is about £38 from le maitre. ive found le maitre technical service to be really freindly so if you do have issues give them a call.

A common problem with these units is they chuck out so much haze its more like a smoke machine. I used mine in a 500 capacity hall and I had to turn it on and off by the button at the top with almost every puff until the smoke had dispersed. There is a screw inside which controls the amount of liquid passing through on the heating cycle which solved this though.

Hmmm, I think it is just me being paranoid and the machine is working as it should. The fan not working must have been a loose connection.

I dont have any of the metal sticks to clean the coil. Can these be brought from le maitre?

I normally use it in a club environment so to much haze is not a problem. I also have the DMX interface so can control it off my pc although its handy to know the output can be turned down for situations where DMX control is not possible.

look under the sticker on the inside of the machine, next to the fluid bottle. It should be there. If not, le Maitre will sell you one, but they're not cheap for a tiny bit of metal. Worth it though. Make sure you clean it once a week if used a lot. This machine gets blocked easily and is a pain to clean. I use mine almost every day and I clean it every two.
