michael Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Hi at school we have a chamsys lighting console and a frog lighting desk, the chamsys lighting console has a desk light which plugs into the back and the frog desk has the same plug, the other day I plugged the lighting into the frog desk and it didnt work. What is wrong??? is there a control in the super user section to turn the light on???
tom_the_LD Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Have you tried plugging it back into the Chamsys console after plugging it into the Frog? It may just be the bulb has gone.
David Lee Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Also IIRC there are different wiring conventions for these lights.
michael Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 yea I plugged it back into the chamsys desk and it worked I also looked in the frog manual but that didnt say anything about the light.
peter Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I'm not sure where you looked in the Manual, but try this link - page 8-2 lists the pinout configuration for the connectors. It could well be that the light you have isn't wired to the same configuration.
Stuart91 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 On one memorable occasion I managed to crash a Fat Frog by plugging in a desk light that didn't match the required pinout. So check anything before using it mid-show...
Keeper of the Keys Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 My chamsys light uses a LED, I don't know if it's like that for all chamsys desks and I don't know of it makes a difference as far as the Frog (Littlites were generally halogen IIRC) is concerned but that might be a direction to search...
niclights Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 My chamsys light uses a LED, I don't know if it's like that for all chamsys desks and I don't know of it makes a difference as far as the Frog (Littlites were generally halogen IIRC) is concerned but that might be a direction to search... It does not make any difference. It is surely just different wiring. Both use 12v and the Frog is pin2-, pin3+. Chamsys seem to have neglected pinout details from their documentation.... Matt?
gyro_gearloose Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Of course it makes a difference! LEDs only work if they are connected the right way round. i.e. The anode must be connected to + volts, and the cathode must be connected to ground. Wire it up the other way round and it will not work.
