spbmcginty Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Hi guys, was just wondering anyone has managed to change the fuses on the above mentioned light. I know that they are cheap as chips but after buying them from Thomann I was told that when some of the green led's went that it must be a fuse problem. I wa told to remove the screws on the side of the lamp(their words) but the only screws I can see look like adjusting screws. I tried to remove them but nothing happened, I know I sound like an eejit but I really need these lights to work or I will have to send them back to thomann. Thanx a bunch guys :)
Russ83 Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 From memory they have non-captive nuts inside the can. You can just about get a very thin spanner down the side of the PCB to hold the nut in place while you remove the screw. Good luck getting the nut back on though (bluetak or epoxy glue is your friend). :) Edit: While you have the can open you might find it useful to fit a longer power cable.
bruce Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Russ is right - if you just turn the outside screwhead, the inner nut will spin. You need to squeeze a tiny spanner of a pair of needle-nose pliers down the gap between the LED PCB and the casing, to stop the nut turning. If I remember correctly, the fuses are inline on the cables between the PSU and the LED PCB. Reassembly is, as they say, the reverse of removal. But much more swear-inducing.
dmxlights Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 try pulling the nut to wards you as it mite be on a spring and the back should come off easy, it did on mine with no problem
PhilB Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I was able to get to the fuses by removing the three screws which hold the LED 'pannel' onto the unit... This was much easier than undoing the bolts (even though I did this in the end because replacing the fuses didnt work!) Changing the fuses didnt make the green LEDs work though!! Let us know if it works for you!!
Russ83 Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Sorry, I thought something didn't sound quite right. If you look at the PCB board there should be 3 small silver screws. Take those out and the LED board will come out.As Bruce has said the fuses are inline and there should be enough to change them without removing the silver plate below. edit1: beaten to it by Phil.edit2: Since I already have one of mine open the fuses are 200mA quickblow (F200mAL250V) 5mm x 20mm.
spbmcginty Posted February 23, 2009 Author Posted February 23, 2009 Ok update time. I found the silver retaining screws on the front of the unit(many thanx to everyone who assisted with this), I then changed the fuses and guess what? No change, therefore I will be contacting Thomann to collect and repair/replace them :** laughs out loud **: . Can I just say that I was astonished at the speed of the replies and I want to say thanx to everyone for taking the time to try and help me out. :D Sam
