Dodgecaliber Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Hi all, Im working on a big job at the moment, the client has asked me to wash the exterior. Im unable to get a pic of the venue, however this is the exact same size and design. The client doesn't want much light going beyond the first and fourth pillar as that is not part of the same building. Im toying with the idea of a city colour but im unsure whether to get one or two. My only other option is to get a couple of movers with a condome.... He also wants a Space cannon to draw the crowds. I've never used one before so can anyone advise me over power requirements and how they actualy operate? (The website seems to be down just now) Ideas appreciated Cheers folks.

(The website seems to be down just now) Hi mate Is it just the pillors you want to wash without the walls behind? If so I would go with 4 ciy colours one on each pillor. If its just to wash the whole building including the 4 pillors I would use 2 city colours. As for space cannons I have used 8kw ones that run on 32A single phase and they run DMX Hope this helps is there is anything else you want to know give me a shout
Dodgecaliber Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 Cheers for that, Im looking at a 2500k Space rose. I can't get any info on it but for now I'll asume it runs on a 32amp single. Any ideas on the amp's and current this beast draws? I am looking at washing the whole area including behind the pillars so I think I'll go for a couple of citys.
danjshelton Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 So when you said Space Cannon, you didn't really mean Space cannon? I think that from the sounds of it you require something like a Studio Due Space Flower, this has a 3000w Xenon Lamp. The company I work for has a couple and they have 16a connectors on, although can be ran on a 13a socket (a very toasty 13a socket!), they pull about 12 amps each). This effect is a multi beam (32 if I remember correctly) that pans across the sky (if needed) at a set tilt level) the beams move in and out (Done by actually moving the lamp in and out through the reflector) and also the beams can rotate. Hope this helps. Cheers Dan Edit: The Studio Due Space Flower can either be controlled by a DMX console or in standalone mode (where it does it's own thing) there are various pots and settings that can be changed on the unit.
Dodgecaliber Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 At the start I was looking for the cannon. Im an in house tech and I don't get asked to do much exterior work so I've had very little contact with these lamps. I was in two minds whether to go for a 2.5/3k lamp or a mega bright 7/8k. Bearing in mind the power from the venue is absolute crap and everything is either hardwired or 13amp. I wasn't too sure how much current these buggers drew and therefore, what road I would have to go down in order to light them. I think the best bet is to go for the flower at 3k and run it off 16amp. It's not the best - but theres not much option in this case. I need it on stand-alone anyway - I've not got enough time to program anything fancy! Danjshelton: PM sent
