Thomas1987 Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Hi guys, We've run short of ZR22 fluid (it seems to be drinking the stuff), and our usual supplier can't get us more before Saturday night. As a temporary measure, I spotted this from Maplins... are there any reasons I can't use this in an ancient ZR22? Having read about it, there seems to be some suggestion this is a bad idea... but its smoke fluid... in a smoke machine... can it be so bad? Any advice? Edit: Alternatively, thisfrom CPC... Double edit: Oops just checked the spec for the Martin dJ stuff, and I think it should be ok. Unless anyone knows otherwise??
niclights Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 It might be fine. It might block the heater. It might come out as hot fluid. Your choice. But if you're not too bothered and can safely check it's not going to do anything nasty then it will probably be fine, certainly just in the short-term. You could flush through with distilled water after to minimise potential damage.
KevinE Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Well that CPC stuff has the Jem logo on it so I suppose it's made by Jem (Martin) who designed the ZR22 anyway. The cheap stuff usually has impurities (try distilling it, you get a sandy precipitation) and will eventually kill of the machine. For emergencies, go ahead, but remember the ZR22 deserves better!! ;-)
Alpha Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 I have done it before with a ZR22 and ZR33 and never seen any adverse reactions, however its one of those things you do at your own risk.
